Project administration settings allow for granular control of your project administration. They control who can access, modify, or manage different aspects of the project. It is critical to carefully consider data security and confidentiality before assigning project-level access.
Manage Permissions in Prism Admin
There are three permission levels for accessing and managing Prism Projects. It is typical (but not required) to create a custom role in the administration module to, for example, control different levels of access for Project Leads and regular project users.
- Can Access Projects: this setting is typically for regular users who need to view projects but not create, edit, or add tasks. For example, task assignees who need to view the details of their tasks but not edit projects are good candidates for this permission level.
- Can Create and Edit Projects: This is typically used for Project Administrators and Leads who need to create, edit, and manage projects. This permission level provides full access to all project features.
- Can Manage Project Categories: Users with this permission level can change the naming of the six default project categories for the entire account and add charge codes to each category for additional financial control. Because changes made to the project categories affect the entire account, use caution when granting this permission level. It is typically reserved for administrators, senior managers, and finance managers who need to administer project category and budget controls.
