This guide outline the process of adding new Asset Types in the Equipment module of Prism. Asset Types are categories or classifications used to organize and manage different types of equipment within the system.
Asset Types assist with improved organization of equipment groups, assist with more specified reporting results, and to simply inventory management. You can also use Asset Types as a way of grouping specific equipment pieces together in order to create a Preventive Maintenance task for them.
To Create a New Asset Type:
Click the Equipment module and navigate to the Asset Types tab.
Click the blue Add Asset Types button in the top right corner of the page.
Enter the Name and select a category for the Asset type. Then click "Add Asset Type" to add.
FAQ Troubleshooting:
Q: How many pieces of equipment can I have under a specific Asset Type?
A: You can have as many equipment pieces under a single asset type as you'd like, but we recommend trying to specify each asset type to make inventory and reporting easier for you down the road.
Q: Can you create a PM Task for an Asset Type group?
A: Yes - you can group several pieces of equipment together and be able to create a single schedule for the Asset Type to fire out PM tasks for each equipment piece.
